Re-piercing my navel?

sadly my 9 month old navel piercing just rejected :( it didnt reject all the way, i took it out before it came through the skin. im currently rubbing vitamin E from capsules on it daily to help get rid of the scar, do you think my chances of having it fully heal and not reject will improve if i pierce it a little deeper and use titanium? i miss it so much and i want it back for good. i think it may have rejected due to the metal, the bar being too long, and maybe a bit of over cleaning =/
