How should I dress for an awards assembly?

This is a middle school awards assembly, and I'm fairly certain I'll be getting several awards, so I'll be up on stage with people looking at me. The school never said if I should dress nicer than usual or just wear jeans and a shirt, like I usually do. I do have a pretty floral skirt I could wear with a shirt, but I don't want to feel overdressed and see all these other people in just jeans. Should I wear jeans and a nice top or a top with the skirt? Thanks for the help.
